Doug’s been a seafood lover all of his life.  If you ask him to his face, he’ll tell you that he loved seafood even before then.  That’s right, Doug claims he was a seal in a previous life.

Doug started getting serious about seafood at age 9, when he took on the responsiblity of cleaning and filleting all of the fish caught by his family at Moose Lake, just outside of Bonnyville, Alberta.  That amounted to countless yellow perch, northern pike and walleyes.

Now Doug lives just West of Sebastopol in Sonoma County, California.

Most of the fish he enjoys are dungeness crab, steelhead, king salmon, halibut, rockfish, petrale sole, prawns and sand dabs, all from the Pacific Ocean off of the California coast. Occassionally he’ll indulge in mackerel, both grilled and as sushi. And of course he enjoys the local oysters from Tomales Bay, Bodega Bay and Humboldt Bay.
